HOW IT WORKS & EXPECTED COURSES

LETC takes place over five days, with four days of full instruction. As we get closer to August we will notify attendees on how to choose your four subject-specific classes (one each day) from a multitude of options.  These classes are taught by world-class instructors with backgrounds in every aspect of firearms training.

AS EXAMPLE – BELOW ARE COURSES OFFERED LAST YEAR

Instructor: Mike Clark- VirTra/Victory First

Training Details:

The VirTra Red Dot Transition and Sustainment program was written in conjunction with Matt Jacques from Victory First. It is designed to take officers with little to no experience with the pistol mounted red dot optic and equip them with the necessary skills to successfully transition from traditional Iron sights to a pistol mounted red dot optic. The course will be conducted in the VirTra simulator and on a live fire range. Additionally, the course provides sustainment material to help officers to continue building the skill set necessary for proper presentation of the pistol.

The sustainment package was designed to give officers specific drills that can be conducted in the simulator pre or post daily briefings or as a supplement to range qualification days. It takes an in depth look at some the more popular red dot optics on the market today but is not intended as an all-encompassing recommendation as to what optics to choose or avoid. Please refer to your agency’s Authorized Equipment List for guidance on choosing a red dot optic for use on your service pistol.

The course is certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) and meets POST requirements in 38 States. It contains a pre-test, lecture post-test and range drills and exemplifies VirTra’s dedication to our Teach, Train, Test, Sustain philosophy.

Equipment required:
  • Duty belt to include service pistol with a Pistol Mounted Red Dot Sight (PMRDS)
  • Ear and Eye protection
  • 3 magazines
  • 400 Rounds of Ammunition

This class is designed for the instructor, but provides a great perspective for those who just want to learn how to improve their own skill.

In this class we will also explain why you don’t understand shooting if you are saying (or believe) any of the following incorrect/misleading shooting phrases:

  • Slow is smooth, smooth is fast
  • Focus on the front sight
  • Preeessss
  • Slow down
  • Don’t jerk the trigger
  • Equal light, equal height
  • Practice makes perfect
  • Shooting is 90% mental

  2. 4 magazines (minimum)
  3. 500-750 rounds ammunition
  4. Holster/belt/mag pouches
  5. Eye & Ear Protection

Vehicle CQB is an accelerated shooting class focused on positional shooting and a critical look at how we have historically fought in and around vehicles. Live ballistic demos with a variety of ammunition will be conducted as the class explores ballistic deflection, deformation, penetration and terminal effect in direct correlation to various vehicle mediums.
