Abu Dhabi MATCH Village

A FULL CQB VILLAGE PROVIDING TRAINING FOR EVERY OUTCOME

The Abu Dhabi MATCH Village in the UAE is an Action Target complex of live-fire shoot houses configured as a full urban training village. Completed in 2009, the rifle-rated compound supports handgun, rifle, and shotgun use across nine shoot house buildings of varying shapes and sizes, including two- and three-level structures with internal stairwells and roof-breach openings. A complete after action review (AAR) system monitors every room with cameras and recording equipment. Both perimeter infantry target systems and interior target systems enable agile and scenario-driven training.

Developed for a national defense client in the UAE, the village replicates local streetscapes and advances MOUT and CQB through realistic evolutions. Training evolutions include helicopter drop-off scenarios, use of ground bunkers for cover, seizing footholds on the edge of the city to enable penetration, clear-and-breach problems (including Tactical Breach Door options), defense from fortified positions, and designated sniper positions for live-fire against the exterior infantry target system.

MATCH SHOOT HOUSE

Action Target’s MATCHTM Shoot House is a modular, connected live-fire shoot house—rifle-rated with zero surface danger zone (SDZ) design, engineered ventilation, and integrated after action review (AAR)—for military and law enforcement training.

  • Rifle-rated buildings support handgun, rifle, and shotgun live fire across multiple levels.
  • Splatter containing walls made of a wood fascia with gravel fill capture fragments and reduce ricochet.
  • Realistic room shapes and angles mirror real structures to sharpen judgment under stress.
  • Configurable doors, windows, and breach points enable diverse entries, including rooftop and shotgun breaching.
  • Overhead catwalks provide unobstructed observation and comms without entering the line of fire.
  • Run CQB live-fire scenarios that reinforce communication, movement, and target discrimination.
  • Multiple room layouts for different scenarios.
  • Modular panels reconfigure quickly into multiple room layouts, tunnels, and hiding areas.
  • Adjustable lighting, from low-light to bright-light and everything in between, recreates real-world conditions and can be operated from a central control system.

ABU DHABI'S TRAINING VILLAGE

Abu Dhabi’s training village combines nine MATCHTM shoot houses into a connected, multi-level environment that enables CQB/MOUT evolutions with integrated after action review (AAR). This purpose-built complex delivers repeatable, scalable scenarios that mirror local conditions.

  • Nine rifle-rated buildings with zero SDZ design enable simultaneous entries, stacked assaults, and full after action review.
  • Exterior facades replicate Abu Dhabi streetscapes to elevate recognition, decision-making, and realism.
  • The inclusion of mixed surfaces—gravel, sand, concrete, and grass—build confident movement, weapon handling, and communications across changing terrain.
  • Perimeter lanes used the Action Target Track RunnerTM moving target system for outdoor training; while the Track Runner is now discontinued, the current DRM ProTM provides equivalent moving-threat capability.
  • Perimeter turn targets create movement-to-contact lanes, long-to-short transitions, and timed threat exposures that sharpen discrimination.
  • Internal turn targets are powered by a complete pneumatic air system.
  • AutoTargetsTM mounted on Portable Bullet Traps deliver reconfigurable indoor engagements that support CQB reps and rapid after action review.
  • Interior and exterior stairwells support vertical movement, stairwell fights, and top-down clears.
  • Tunnels, hiding areas, and roof-breach points add concealment challenges and unconventional entry options.
  • Rappel points enable rooftop insertions and window entries under controlled, live-fire conditions.
  • Action Target Tactical Breach Doors support mechanical and shotgun breaching with swappable, resettable components.

"UNMATCHED REALISM; OUR TEAMS ARE FASTER, SHARPER, AND MORE CONFIDENT."

AFTER ACTION REVIEW (AAR)

This training village employs a fully networked after action review system that captures every evolution for rapid, evidence-based debriefs. Integrated cameras, audio, and recording across all MATCH shoot houses support rigorous military training.

  • Rugged, protected cameras are positioned throughout each shoot house to survive live-fire environments and debris.
  • Sealed housings are rated for dust, sand, heat, and humidity to ensure dependable imagery indoors and outdoors.
  • Onsite servers, DVR, and video software store multi-angle footage and enable on-demand replay for individual or team AARs.
  • From the AAR room, instructors monitor live feeds and tag key moments for immediate debrief.
  • Integration with the Action Target SmartRange System allows trainers to observe multiple rooms at the same time or switch between cameras.
  • PA and other audio systems help instructors communicate with trainees.
  • Pipe sound effects into the house, enhancing the reality of the training.

BETTER EQUIPPED. BETTER PREPARED.

Operational goals center on realistic urban problem sets: offensive entry on the urban perimeters, multi-level clears, bunker employment, and precision fire from defensive positions. Abu Dhabi’s MATCH shoot house village aligns facilities, target systems, and AAR to produce units equipped, trained, and ready to execute.

  • Prepare forces for a wide spectrum of special operations scenarios with realistic live-fire problem sets.
  • Conduct insertions and rapid assaults to seize footholds and drive momentum.
  • Execute shaping and entry operations on the urban perimeter leading to controlled penetration.
  • Refine communication, angles, and target discrimination under time pressure.
  • Employ dug-in positions for covered movement, observation, and defensive fire.
  • Hold, harden, and fight from prepared positions with controlled fields of fire.
  • Use designated overwatch points for sniper engagements and coordination with assault elements.
  • Engage perimeter reactive targets to validate precision fire from defensive positions.
  • Orchestrate complex missions that combine multiple structures, routes, and vehicle movements.
  • Run parallel evolutions so multiple units can train at the same time with shared AAR.
