Action Target and Team One Network have formed a partnership creating newly designed courses to improve the knowledge of Range Masters, Firearms Instructors, Shoot House Instructors and Range Safety Officers. These updated courses will inform and instruct attendees of new technology in modern range, target design and training tactics. 

Defensive Pistol for the Concealed Carry

This course is designed to merge combative handgun techniques with everyday carry and concealment of the personal handgun. The course combines classroom and range time to give the student a solid understanding of what is needed to deploy the combative handgun from a covering garment.

Topics that will be covered are:

  • Developing the combative mind
  • Gun and holster selection
  • Locating your own personal carry “sweet spot”
  • Draw techniques (with an emphasis on belt carry)
  • Enhancing combative pistol and holster skills
  • Movement while shooting
  • Seated shooting and shooting in/around vehicles
  • Proper ID and engagement

Dynamic Use of Target Systems

This course will provide a series of dynamic training exercises that will help you improve your live fire-training program. We will be incorporating a variety of target options that provide a pathway to improve the skills of your students. In law enforcement communities around the world, we know that realistic training is the key to giving students the experience necessary to The course will ožer some of our ideas on the use of a variety of targets in creating a building block approach to realistic training during live fire exercises.

  • Three-dimensional targets

Range Safety O„fficer

The Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

  • The Role of the Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures
  • Range Safety Briefing
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Firearm stoppages and malfunctions

Duration: 1 Days

Chief Range Safety O„cer

Chief Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. This course requires the NRA Range Safety Officer certifications as a prerequisite. The successful completion of this course will allow individuals to educate, train, and certify Range Safety Officers.

Topics that will be covered are:

  • Range Safety Officer’s roles and responsibilities
  • Range standard operating procedures
  • Range inspection and range rules
  • Firearm stoppages and malfunctions
  • Range Safety Briefings which include emergency procedures

Duration: 2 Days

Range Master

The Range Master has overall charge of the range. This position usually occupied by the most experienced Firearms Instructor. This course will further develop the Firearms Instructors’ knowledge in order to become a Range Master by expanding their skills in the safe and efficient management of a firearms range and training program.

  • Responsibilities of the Range Master
  • Range safety issues
  • Inventory control and allocation
  • Logistical support and resources
  • Ammunition, ballistics, evaluation and selection
  • Target design and selection
  • Environmental issues of indoor and outdoor ranges
  • Response to Medical Emergencies
  • Exposure to Range Hazards (Ear, Eye and Blood concerns)
  • Realistic scenario based training
  • Proper communication skills
  • Use of marking cartridges
  • Conducting safe live fire scenarios
  • Developing department policies
  • Legal and Liability update
  • Critical Incident review and analysis

Prerequisites:

  • Completed a recognized Firearms Instructor Course
  • Completed the Range Master on-line program (part of this course)

Duration: 5 Days

Ammunition: 100 Rounds Frangible

Equipment Required: Wrap around eye protection, ear protection, brimmed hat, body armor, pistol with three magazines, holster and duty belt. Other equipment will be provided.

Shoot House Instructor

Shoot house training provides officers with the ability to hone their shooting skills under realistic, high-stress conditions. This course ožers instructors all the tools necessary to build a shoot house program and improve their fellow officers’ shooting skills.

Topics that will be covered are:

  • Safety issues in the shoot house
  • The responsibilities of the shoot house instructor
  • Program development
  • How to integrate the range and the shoot house in training
  • Working with tactical teams in the shoot house
  • Live fire exercises

Duration: 2 Days

Equipment Required: Wraparound eye protection, ear protection, brimmed hat, pistol with three magazines and holster, duty belt, full tactical gear including body armor, gas mask, and a flashlight.

Reactive Steel Target Instructor Workshop

This concept is the underlying theory behind steel targets. For every shot that is on target, you get instant feedback from seeing the target react and hearing that satisfying “clang” as the bullet makes impact. While steel targets are a fantastic training tool, they add a level of safety considerations beyond traditional target shooting. Therefore, you have to consider what is behind the target as well as what could potentially be hit in the area the bullet is being redirected to. If that redirection is improper or inconsistent, it can pose a significant risk. This course will cover the many dižerent types of steel targets and their proper and safe use.
