Target retriever systems that move paper or cardboard targets away from the shooter and then back again are a traditional fixture on many indoor ranges. Once again, Action Target has improved upon tradition to bring you a complete line of target retriever systems.

Standard Target Retriever

With our standard retriever system, targets that sag and sway with every movement are a thing of the past. Our system replaces flimsy hanging cable guides with a rigid steel track to support the target trolley. This steel track provides stable operation, quick target response, and more precise control. Although we don't use steel cable to support the target trolley, we do use it instead of nylon cord to pull the trolley back and forth along the track. This more effective use of steel cable makes our retriever even stronger and more durable.

Our standard retriever also uses a new state-of-the-art target trolley that incorporates urethane wheels and multiple contact points on the track to provide smooth, quiet operation without binding or jumping. A simple but clever attachment for mounting paper and cardboard targets to the trolley means you spend your time shooting and not fussing with the equipment.

Deluxe Target Retriever

The deluxe version of our retriever uses this same advanced design as the standard model, plus an additional modular unit that easily attaches to the bottom of the trolley. This extra unit gives the Smart Retriever 180 degree turning capabilities, which makes your range more valuable for training and more entertaining for the public. As the trolley moves back and forth, your paper or cardboard target can turn from edge, to face, to the opposite face, or any combination of the three positions. This dynamic turning technology can dramatically improve your indoor range experience.

Retriever Controls

To a certain degree, the retriever components you choose will determine which target control options you will need. If you decide on the standard, non-turning retriever, you have three options.

The first is a simple toggle switch mounted directly into the shooting stall at each position. When the switch is flipped forward or backward, the target moves away from or back to the shooter. Whenever the switch is released, the target will simply stop wherever it is at that moment.

Your second option is Action Target's Smart Pad™. Smart Pad is an electronic keypad that gives you the ability to automatically send the target to pre-determined positions along the track. You can program Smart Pad to remember and replay a series of distances and positions so that multiple shooters can shoot the exact same course of fire.

If you decide to use Smart Pad, you can also incorporate Action Target's computerized Master Control Unit as your third control option. The Master Control Unit gives the rangemaster total control over every target on the range from a single location. Targets can be controlled individually, all at once, or in various groupings.

By design, ranges using the Deluxe Retriever with its turning capabilities must use Smart Pad to control the targets. With Smart Pad you can move the target back and forth anywhere along the track, automatically send the target to pre-determined positions on the track, and control the turning action of the target, all from the same user-friendly keypad. With Smart Pad and the Deluxe Retriever, you also have the ability to program and replay a series of target positions and turning actions. The Master Control Unit can be used with this configuration as well, giving you centralized control over every aspect of your target retriever system.
